Spring is in the air and the wedding season is on the horizon. In this tough economy, brides everywhere are on the lookout for ideas to help them trim costs without skimping on memories.
As a former bride and a wedding photographer, I'm a bit biased to spending extra on photography and less on other things like the cake, dress or invitations. But, if your photography budget is already strained or you want to cover all your photo bases, consider disposable wedding cameras.
In the age of digital cameras, it's easy to assume your guests will all take lots of pictures and give you copies. But which anniversary will you be celebrating before you actually receive those copies?
Disposable cameras keep you firmly in control of the images and offer many other benefits:
- The cameras are cheap - around $2 to $3 each but come loaded with good quality film, flash and batteries.
- Cameras can be customized with your names and the date so they double as table decor.
- Point and shoot cameras are easy to use and great pictures can be taken even by small children
- The cameras stay on the table after the reception. The maid of honor can gather them up and drop them off at any photo lab - meaning you'll have stacks of great images when you return from your honeymoon.
- Having cameras circulating for the candid shots means your photographer can be free to focus on your formal shots. This can reduce the overall time (and therefore, budget) you'll need to allocate to photography.
- Many models come with pre-printed table cards explaining the cameras should be used and then left behind for the bride and groom.
